Orpheus, Eurydice - their souls woven for tragedy,
buckled at the wedding bells so silently as She did wonder.
Bitten by a snake, while so the venom coarsing-twisting,
As She wept out She could here Persephone insisting

"Hell is waiting!"
I said, "Your hell is waiting behind your eyes!"
There's a bright light shining in the road up there.

So Orpheus descended every step to to play His song
To find a way to tease the gods to let Him take Her -
His bride of old, his loving shoulder, he would make alive again;
grabbed her by the hand and led Her up to the land.

Well, hell is waiting behind her eyes.
There's a bright light shining in the road up there.

So just beyond the final bend as hell returned to earth
A hero now so anxious for his love had made to turn around
And as he did the pale reflection of Eurydice caught flame;
She disappeared once more into the hell from which she came.

"Your hell is waiting behind your eyes!"
